Summer Homeschool: Everything is a Lesson!

As a homeschool family, we worked pretty hard between August and May, so we decided to put the text books aside for the summer to focus mostly on field trip learning. It has been great fun so far, but much of the learning is coming from unexpected places. For example, a quick trip to an annual plant festival lead to questions about venus fly traps, how they work, where they grow, and how to grow them. Then it was off to lunch at a Vietnamese restaurant. So many questions arose here, we decided to delve in unit-study style to learn more about Vietnam. The after dinner build-a-banana split event turned into a short ‘how-to’ video project and we learned about scripts, ‘takes’, and audio and video editing basics. We will share our finished product soon!
